Now, to today's post! Today I am going to talk about the Sabbath. We are going to look at some different Bible verses, and figure out which day is the true Sabbath! So, Let's get started!
Let's start with Exodus 20: 8-11
8Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Which day does this scripture passage tell us is the Sabbath? The 7th day of the week. Saturday.
When Jesus died on the cross, He died on Friday, and was buried that day. He rose on Sunday, the first day of the week. ( John 20.) So, He rested on Saturday, which is the seventh day! Jesus kept the true Sabbath, even in His death!
But, why do most Christians go to church on Sunday? Some people believe that the Sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sunday. But , the Bible tells us that God's Word is true, it is unchangeable! God would not declare one day to be His Sabbath, and then change it!
Look at Hebrews 4: 8. " For if Jesus ad given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day."
I want to keep Jesus' true Sabbath! What about you?
